Letter from Leadership
Hello, Overfield Families, and welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! We have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the children who have returned to Overfield, and getting to know the children who are joining us at Overfield for the first time. We are so happy they–and you–are here.
This newsletter will be emailed out to the whole school every Monday that school is in session. It features information, updates, reminders, and visual traces of our life here at Overfield. We hope that you will find that you not only feel informed, but also that you feel connected to the whole Overfield community.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you ever have questions, concerns, or would like to be more involved in the life of the school. You are welcome and necessary; we value your voice, and know it is only through partnership and working together as a community that we can fulfill our mission of providing the highest quality early childhood experience in the Miami Valley!
On behalf of our Finance Lead, Erin Johnston, and all of our wonderful teachers who make this school the special place that it is, welcome to the Overfield Family!

Overfield Attendance Policy for School Age Children
We know that regular school attendance is an essential foundation of education. When children attend school regularly they build strong relationships, stay engaged in learning, and establish good habits that reinforce the importance of being present. Overfield’s programs are built upon relationships, and the quality of the instruction and learning at Overfield is predicated upon the presence of the student to ensure this continuity and quality of learning. While we understand that there are circumstances that may necessitate missing school periodically, we seek to establish the value of regular attendance with our children early in their education.
Thus, we are asking for your partnership in supporting regular school attendance with our Kindergarten-3rd grade children. This also applies to late arrivals. We have a flexible 15 minute window for drop off, which allows children and families to have a more relaxed entry into the day. Arriving beyond that time period makes children miss out on the important things offered during this part of the day. It also greatly stresses our staff to have to accommodate children who regularly arrive later than this flexible entry time. Please be mindful of the needs of your child and our staff, and arrive in this flexible entry window.
If your child is going to be absent or will be late, please email the office at office@overfield.org or send a message on Brightwheel. You may also call the Office at 937-339-5111.
Thank you for your partnership on this important matter! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Leadership Team if you have questions or concerns.
Reminders…
Please send your child in close-toed shoes that are suitable for play; we ask that you not send your child in flip flops or Crocs. Kindly send in a pair of rain boots if you have not already done so. Make sure to put your child’s name on all items: their boots, lunch, extra clothes, rest time items, and water bottles.
If your child will not be at school or has a schedule change, please notify the Office by e-mailing office@overfield.org or sending a message via Brightwheel. You may also call the office at 937-339-5111.
Please observe the speed limit of 10 mph on the hill and side lane next to our school buildings.
