Now on display at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center is an exhibit highlighting creative efforts of K-12 students from Troy City Schools, Troy Christian Schools, St. Patrick School, and The Overfield School. More than 300 pieces of student artwork are featured. The pieces from Overfield students are a very small sample from the incredible amount and quality of artwork produced here all the time as our students respond to their experiences, interests, and observations through various mediums. Nevertheless, it’s good to see our school represented at this local destination alongside neighboring schools. The exhibit is open during Hayner’s regular business hours through Sunday, April 2, 2023. Exhibits at Troy-Hayner Cultural Center are always free and open to the public. We hope you will find time to appreciate the creativity of these talented children!
Parent-Teacher Conferences – March 13-14, 2024
Our spring Parent-Teacher Conferences are fast approaching! Our teachers have been preparing to meet with you by diligently observing each child. At this conference you will be given a confference report, as well as be able to view photo files and portfolio pages, which will all support discussion with you during your scheduled conference time.
These Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for the evening of Wednesday, March 13 and all day Thursday, March 14.
There will be NO OVERFIELD CLASSES on March 14th as parents meet with teachers. You should have received an electronic link via email, where you can reserve your meeting time with one of your child’s teachers. If you need to make a change to your meeting time after Friday, 3/8, please email the office or send a message directly to your conferencing teacher, or call the office at 339-5111, as the sign ups will close after this date.
This Parent-Teacher Conference time is for adults only. It is a time allotted for us to discuss your child’s progress, and since it is not appropriate to discuss a child in his/her presence unless you are talking to that child, please make sure you make other child care arrangements for your child during this meeting. Children may not be unattended in the building during these conferences, as this poses a safety concern.
Each conference will be 30 minutes in length, and it is important we stay on schedule. We will discuss our observations about your child and any questions or thoughts you have for us. If you feel more time is needed, we can immediately schedule another conference for another date.
We are looking forward to meeting with you all, and discussing all of the wonderful children we are fortunate to spend time with at Overfield!
We are once again under construction! We are so grateful to both The Troy and Miami County Foundations for helping us make it possible to take on a much needed Drainage Construction Project intent on tackling water drainage issues that have worsened over time. Big rains often leave our grounds (and sometimes basements) flooded. The Project involves tying in downspouts from all our buildings and running them (along with slotted drainage) underground to the east end of our grounds into existing drainage. A dry river rock “stream” will be installed over part of the path of the underground pipes to help collect excess water and also add additional interest/learning opportunities for the children.
The project started on the North Side playground and will span the main playground as well. Of course, our curious Overfield students are very interested in what is going on, so you may learn about progress in conversation with your child, as well as from the class Daily Journal. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Erin (ejohnston@overfield.org) directly. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time of temporary disruption to these outdoor play areas.
